PRECISE – International Research Project
Özyeğin University, supported by the European Union and CONNECT-NM (Coordination of the European Research Community on Nuclear Materials for Energy Innovation) Carried out within the scope of the consortium PRECISE in the international research project called project partner It has earned the right to be included.
PRECISE (Physics-informed and data-driven Reliable Estimations for Corrosion in Sustainable Nuclear Environments) The project aims to advance the prediction of degradation and corrosion in nuclear materials by shifting from traditional approaches based on experimental correlations to artificial intelligence models based on physics knowledge and using time-series data. Through a dual architecture that considers both data-constrained and data-rich scenarios, the goal is to generate reliable and generalizable predictions for different nuclear material types and operating conditions.
In this project, where multicenter experimental studies are supported by analytical and numerical validation methods, inter-laboratory and inter-material comparisons enhance the robustness and applicability of the developed methodologies. Offering open-source data and software outputs with the active participation of industrial stakeholders, the PRECISE project aims to create a tangible impact in the short term and to establish a strong foundation for next-generation research in the field of nuclear materials in the long term.
The PRECISE project is run by an interdisciplinary European consortium bringing together representatives from academia, research centers, and industry from different countries.
This multi-partner consortium brings together leading universities, research centers, and industry stakeholders from Germany, Spain, Ukraine, China, and Türkiye; Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) while working as a project coordinator CIEMAT, Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), IPP Centre, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) ve Borcelik Powerful institutions like these are contributing to the project. Özyeğin University, on the other hand, is represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ozgur Ertunc and Dr. Assistant Professor Ismail AriIt participates in the consortium with work packages in which it actively takes part.
